Things Happened in Nagpur Community Post WCNagpur 2017

The Sole objective of WordCamp in the city is to boost the growth of the community in Local Vicinity.

At the beginning of WordCamp Nagpur 2017, we had 332 members in our Facebook group and 162 members of Meetup.com Group. now at the time of 2018 WordCamp, the numbers have changed to 692 & 493 respectively. Indeed these grown figures are good for the local community and growth of the city.

The Annual Conference is must have to boost the Open Source Enthusiasm, while many small activities do help us to build the strong bonding between people. Here is the list of those activities that Community Participated in Nagpur between these two WordCamp.

Are you Interested in networking over Sports Field?

If you have gone through the previous #WCNagpur action plan post, We committed explaining about Networking over Sports Field. Here’s Explainer.

Why Networking over Sports Field?
Last year we noticed not every one like to party harder, people love to talk, network, go early to bed and rise early to continue there Athletic schedule even if travelling for Conference.

As Contributor day will be starting late around 11 AM. Because many like to party Harder and it is hard for them to wake up early on Sunday Morning.

Networking over Sports Field is for people who love to wake up early and enjoy the Morning fresh air on the sports field.

What’s the Plan for Networking Hour?
Nagpur is Known For Cricket, city got two international stadiums. we might plan for Cricket Match or Football match as it’s rainy season. Followed by Breakfast.

How are we planning to Manage teams?
It will be first come first basis, so quickly let us know about your interest.

Action plan for WordCamp Nagpur 2018

It has been a week, we are talking about WordCamp Nagpur 2018. The most common question that is asked to organizing team is

“Last year, you guys had Workshop Day, Plugin Pratiyogita and Session day. which were great pieces of WordCamp to attend. What’s going to happen this year at WordCamp Nagpur?”

We learnt lots of things from last years Mistakes, We are trying to rectify them this year along with some awesome ideas from other WordCamps.

So here’s our plan for WordCamp Nagpur 2018

Saturday 21st July 2018, WordCamp Day

This year we planned to have three Parallel tracks for Sessions, Workshops and Panels. Tentative Schedule as follows:

  • 9 AM – Registration Desk Opens
  • 9 AM to 10 AM – You can continue Networking over breakfast
  • 10.00 AM – We will start with Welcome & Introduction
    • Last year, due to first time organizing experience, we were busy in settling things. We were not able to convey the format. We look forward to correcting that mistake this year
  • 10.30 AM – Sessions / Panels / Workshops Start
    • Last year, tracks were not in sync, This year we make sure to follow timings. all sessions will follow Schedule, keeping tracks on time and in Sync. and Enough time break so people can engage in Networking area and change Tracks.
  • 5.00 PM – Closing Ceremony & Winner Announcements for Various Contest conducted on the Camp Day.
  • 7.30 PM – After Party / Networking Party,
    • Will Announce Venue and Details shortly.

Sunday 22nd, 2018 – Contributor Day

  • 8.00 AM – Networking in Sports Field (That’s new, will elaborate in next post)
  • 11.00 AM – Contributor Day (Multiple tracks)
  • 01.00 PM – 2.00 PM – Lunch
  • 2.00 PM – 5.00 PM Contributor Tracks Continued.

So technically its still two-day camp, this time First day is Conference day. The ticket we are charging is specifically for Conference Day Only and does not include access to networking dinner/After Party.

Plugin Pratiyogita ( प्रतियोगिता ) is back

Last year at WordCamp Nagpur, the desi version of Plugin Palooza in Indian Community was introduced. It will be a dedicated slot for developers to show their development skills at WordCamp.

What happened in last year’s Plugin Pratiyogita is the blog post for another day. Here’s how you can show your skills at Plugin Pratiyogita.

How will Plugin Pratiyogita ( प्रतियोगिता ) work?

  • Submit a plugin idea before 30th June 2018.
  • Submitted ideas will be scrutinized and the team will be notified to present at WordCamp by 25th June.
  • Make sure you submit an initial draft of the plugin in WordPress Repository.
  • We’ll have room for 10 teams to compete.
  • The selected team will get 10 minutes to present plugin to Jury on 21st July 2018.
  • Selected team members will get free tickets to WordCamp Nagpur 2018.
  • Results will be announced before closing ceremony on 21st July 2018.

Plugin Eligibility

  • Plugin published under GNU General Public License v2 or later.
  • Plugin published WordPress.org repository.
  • Plugin published date should be after 1st May 2018.

Team Eligibility

  • Develop it individually or as a team, there is no limit on team size.
  • Each team member can be part of One team only.
  • One of your team members has to be at WordCamp Nagpur to represent your plugin.
  • There is no geographical limitation to participate in the competition.

The winning team and runners-up win fabulous prizes! We’ll be announcing prizes shortly.

While we are working towards Second WordCamp Nagpur, a Global event is scheduled on Sunday 27th, 2018. Its 15th Anniversary of WordPress.

This will be a casual meetup where we will cut the cake, have refreshment and discuss the WordCamp Plans.
